Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Studio at Matarangi . By booking a stay or using this website, you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before confirming your reservation.

1. General Information

Studio at Matarangi is a privately owned, single accommodation located in Matarangi, Whitianga, New Zealand. We offer casual short-term stays for one or two guests looking for a quiet and comfortable getaway.

2. Booking & Payment

  • Bookings are confirmed only once payment is received by the agreed payment method.

  • You must be 20 years or older to make a booking.

  • You agree to provide accurate contact details at the time of booking.

3. Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in: From 3:00pm to 11pm

  • Check-out: By 10:00am please.

4. Cancellation Policy

  • A full refund will be made if you cancel up to 14 days ahead of your stay
  • A partial refund is negotiable if you cancel 8-13 days ahead of your stay
  • No refund for cancellations made within 7 days of your stay, unless there is a local emergency or events which prevent you getting to Matarangi by road
  • If an unforeseen event occurs, forcing me to cancel your stay, a full refund will be paid

5. Guest Responsibilities

By staying at Studio at Matarangi, you agree to:

  • Please treat my property, the furnishings, and all provided chattels with respect

  • Please show consideration to myself and the neighbours

  • Quiet time is between 10pm and 7am

  • Your friends and family are welcome to visit until 10pm. No parties please

  • Please complete the Guest agreement if required

  • Please advise if there are any breakages or other issues

  • No pets allowed

  • Smoking and vaping are permitted outside only. Please use the ashtrays under the sink, and dispose of butts carefully

  • Please read the Matarangi Studio Handbook (orange folder) for all the information you will need for your stay

  • Please ensure you’ve done everything required on the Departure Check List in the Handbook before you leave

  • Please lock up when you leave the site

  • Water is in short supply during peak periods. Please use carefully

6. Property Rules

  • The studio is located directly adjacent to my home, in a quiet cul-de-sac with older permanent residents. Please treat my property with respect, and show consideration to my neighbours
  • I will respect your privacy. Please give me the same courtesy
  • WIFI is available. Internet reception can be patchy at peak times
  • Your friends and family are welcome to visit until 10pm. No parties please
  • Parking is on the grass verge outside the property during the day. You may bring your car onto site in the evening, but it must be off site by 7am please
  • Quiet time is between 10pm and 7am
  • The studio is not suitable for children
  • No pets please
  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the studio. Please use the ashtrays provided and dispose of butts carefully
  • Please advise if there are problems or breakages
  • The studio is not suitable for children

7. Privacy & Personal Information

Your privacy is respected. Any of your personal information collected during the booking process is used only for reservation management, communication with you, and legal requirements. You can view our privacy policy here.

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties unless required by law.

8. Safety

  • Guests must follow all safety instructions and use equipment responsibly.

  • In the event of an emergency, call 111 (For all New Zealand emergency services)

9. Liability

Studio at Matarangi and its owners are not liable for:

  • Personal injuries resulting from misuse of the property or facilities.

  • Loss or damage to guest belongings.

  • Events beyond our control (weather, power outages, road closures, etc.).

Your stay is at your own risk.

10. Website Use

By using our website, you agree not to:

  • Copy or misuse any content, images, or branding.

  • Attempt to interfere with website functionality or security.

  • Use automated tools to scrape content without permission.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. The latest version will always be posted on this page.
